Bringing the charming world of the Plants vs. Zombies franchise into the realm of Minecraft is an exciting endeavor that has been captured by the Gardens and Graves mod.
Overview
The Gardens and Graves mod is designed to incorporate numerous elements from the beloved Plants vs. Zombies games. It draws inspiration from various titles and official media, striving to create a rich and immersive gameplay experience. The mod maintains aesthetic and mechanical alignment with Minecraft, ensuring that it fits seamlessly within the game. Players can uncover seed packets by exploring diverse structures scattered throughout the Minecraft universe. To plant these seeds, players will need sunlight. Additionally, seeds can be grown in planters without sunlight, although they will start as young plants and will eventually yield more seed packets when they mature. Currently, these plants do not exhibit any additional behaviors, but future updates aim to enhance their functionality.
Current Status
The mod is presently in its alpha stage. This decision allows for community feedback, which is invaluable for ongoing improvements and the addition of planned features. At this time, players can enjoy nine functional plants: Sunflower, Peashooter, Snow Pea, Repeater, Wall-nut, Potato Mine, Sun-shroom, Puff-shroom, and Doom-shroom. It’s important to note that the Repeater currently shoots only one pea at a time. While only eight plants have operational seed packets, seed packets for additional plants in development have also been included. This design choice prevents players from needing to explore unloaded chunks or start new worlds just to gather seeds.
Future Enhancements
The following features are in the pipeline and expected to enhance gameplay:
- Players will soon be able to right-click on a flower pot to pick up plants and relocate them without using sunlight;
- “Generating” animations for sunflowers and marigolds will be integrated;
- Finished seed packets will be implemented for all unfinished plants;
- New uses for plants outside of combat scenarios;
- Introduction of more plant varieties!
