FEELING FRUSTRATED?
While enjoying a hardcore session with friends, it’s disheartening when one of them dies. It’s a moment of despair. The questions arise: Do you carry on without that player, or do you abandon your current world to start a new adventure? The options seem limited.
OR DO THEY?
Allow me to introduce you to ETHEREAL MEDIUMCORE. This mod features an intriguing gameplay mechanic: it enables you to revive your fallen comrades for a cost (keep in mind, it’s hardcore, not just any survival mode).
A STEEP PRICE TO PAY
The Ethereal Mediumcore mod introduces a unique block: the Ethereal Campfire. This block is fundamental to the new revive feature.
To create an ethereal campfire, you first need to craft a soul campfire and place it down. Then, offer an item (default being an echo shard, a useful element in hardcore gameplay) to change the fire’s color to white. By stepping into the ethereal campfire, you will sacrifice half of your current maximum health, converting it into a life charge.
THE SPECTRAL SIGHT
With a life charge in your possession, you can now identify deceased players in spectator mode nearby. Use this life charge on your fallen ally to bring them back to life, restoring their health to the value contained within the charge. If you mistakenly step into an ethereal campfire or wish to create a life charge out of curiosity, you can consume it to regain your missing health, although your offering won’t be returned.
ETHEREAL MEDIUMCORE: CATERED FOR HARDCORE MULTIPLAYER, YET…
All functionalities of this mod also apply in classic survival mode. While reviving other players may not be necessary here, you can still accumulate life charges to distribute them among your friends. What’s the purpose of that? Well, that’s for you to decide.
BUT ECHO SHARDS ARE SCARCE AND LIMITED—CAN I USE DIRT INSTEAD?
This mod allows customization of the offering to suit your preferences. You can select any item or block, make lists of offerings, or add tags like logs or templates to serve as offerings.

Customize the configuration to ensure consuming a life charge heals you, if preferred.
UNEXPECTED GAMEPLAY ENCOUNTERS
The ethereal campfire will not fracture your hearts into uneven parts (as seen in Minecraft). If split health would leave a half-heart, it retains the whole heart (though it will not be counted in your charge). Your only cautionary tale: if you attempt to sacrifice half of your life while at a maximum of one heart, you will face death. There is no method to store an arbitrary heart count in a life charge, so approach ethereal campfires with care as reverting to 10 hearts could be pricey.
