Build without altering the core gameplay of Minecraft.
This mod was conceived out of a common frustration: sacrificing decorative elements for the sake of functionality due to their influence on villager behavior. Have you ever spent countless hours beautifying a medieval market square only to have it flooded by a horde of fishermen? That’s one of the primary motivations for the creation of this mod.
Rather than modifying the original blocks or their gameplay elements, Decorative Workstations introduces purely aesthetic equivalents. The vanilla blocks stay intact and unaltered. Each decorative block mirrors its vanilla counterpart in appearance while intentionally eliminating every gameplay element. Shape the village of your dreams rather than conforming to the whims of your villagers.
Whether you prefer playing in Creative mode or Survival, this mod caters to your needs. Decorative blocks are neatly organized in their own tab in Creative mode, while accessible crafting recipes allow you to obtain them easily in Survival mode. How It Functions
These decorative blocks maintain the standard Minecraft experience while stripping away all gameplay interactions. They retain the same:
- Visuals
- Models
- Collision properties
- Hitboxes
- Loot tables
However, their features include:
- No graphical user interface (GUI)
- No inventories
- No villager-related functionality
- No point of interest functionality
- No sleep interactions
Focus on Aesthetics
These decorative blocks serve one primary purpose: to enhance the visual appeal of your builds. Note: Converting a decorative block back to its vanilla version will consume the Item Frame utilized in the creation process.
Inspection Mode
- Initially disabled (can be activated in the configuration file).
- No automatic key binding; assign one in Options → Controls → Key Binds.
- For Minecraft versions 26.1.2, shaders need to be turned off.
- In version 26.2, some shader packs might be compatible, yet functionality remains unguaranteed.
Recommendation
Disabling shaders while utilizing Inspection Mode is advisable for optimal performance.
Compatibility
- Tested on both new and established worlds.
- Works seamlessly with resource packs utilizing Minecraft’s standard rendering system.
- Vanilla blocks are left untouched. Decorative variants exist independently alongside the vanilla versions.
Installation Guide
For Fabric
- Begin by installing Fabric Loader.
- Next, install the corresponding version of Fabric API.
- Transfer the mod
.jarfile to yourmodsdirectory. - Finally, launch Minecraft.
For NeoForge
- Start by installing NeoForge.
- Place the mod
.jarfile into yourmodsfolder. -
Then, launch Minecraft.
Ensure you download the appropriate version of the file that corresponds to your Minecraft version (26.1.2 or 26.2).
Development Insight
This mod is a personal endeavor pursued during my free time. I only offer support for the Minecraft versions I actively play, so there will be no consideration for requests to adapt it to additional versions.
Important Uninstallation Note
To prevent damage to your constructions, remember to either remove or convert every decorative block before uninstalling the mod. Since these are custom blocks, removing the mod while they are still placed will replace them with air, potentially harming your builds. Utilizing Inspection Mode is the best way to locate all blocks prior to uninstallation.
