This mod is crafted for seasoned hardcore players who seek to push their limits even further. It serves as a counterbalance to mod packs that provide powerful armor and weapons, where typical enemies hardly pose a threat. Interested in overpowering survival? Don’t worry; this pack isn’t about making survival an impossible feat. Instead, it will test your skills and strategies.

Chaos Core has been developed with a strong commitment to retaining the essence of the original game. Considerable effort has gone into ensuring compatibility with the vanilla feel of Minecraft. It’s a tightly integrated mod.

Just how challenging does this datapack make Minecraft?

Initially, most mob types capable of wearing armor have a 75% chance to don a completely randomized set of gear, occasionally enchanted. There’s a 35% chance that they will be equipped with a weapon that inflicts higher damage. While more powerful tools are rare, players won’t encounter fully armed netherite zombies unless they’re particularly lucky. Notably, since zombie pigmen spawn with weapons, their damage potential can only escalate. To maintain the vanilla atmosphere, these mobs cannot downgrade to less effective weaponry. This also applies to wither skeletons, which have a chance to appear with bows instead of swords, and normal skeletons can spawn wielding different weapons instead of arrows.

Mobs equipped with armor will NOT drop their gear unless they had vanilla equipment originally, which means the chance of obtaining better gear from these creatures remains unchanged. Don’t expect to loot diamond tools easily.

The majority of aggressive mobs have distinct probabilities of being granted potion effects, including speed, resistance, absorption, strength, water breathing, dolphin’s grace, slow falling, and even invisibility. Each effect has its own activation probability, and it’s possible to encounter a mob with multiple enhancements.

Common hostile entities can spawn additional reinforcements, such as two zombies instead of one, including hostile players like pillagers. This adds another layer of excitement.

Every spider has a chance to generate with a cave spider as a companion, sometimes even riding atop of it. You could encounter various mobs mounted on spiders, or even find a skeleton riding a phantom. Drowned mobs may also appear on dolphins or turtles. Additionally, drowned units have a heightened chance to be armed with tridents when accompanied by dolphins, though they won’t drop the trident unless already carrying one.

Even though creepers can’t spawn with effects, they might have a shorter, less potent explosion, or conversely, a longer and more devastating blast. There’s also a slight probability that their fuse might be shortened without compromising the explosion’s power. Creepers can sometimes be supercharged and are capable of riding phantoms, descending just as the phantom swoops down, albeit with a less powerful blast radius.

Zombies have a minuscule chance to spawn while riding a zombie horse, which naturally cannot be captured. The zombie horse will perish alongside its rider or at sunrise, with its appearances only occurring during rain or thunderstorms. If luck is on your side, you might even spot a baby zombie atop a baby zombie horse. Adult zombies also have a 1 in 100 chance of appearing on an oversized chicken, which despawns in the same manner as the zombie horse. The oversized chicken or zombie horse serves merely as a temporary mount.

Zombies and their variations hold a 15% chance of spawning as babies, with increased probabilities of riding chickens.

Most gear-eligible mobs possess a slight chance to spawn while holding a totem of undying, with the chance stacking multiple times—up to 4 times, or even 5 if both hands clutch a totem. However, finding a dual-wielding totem user is exceedingly rare—so if you come across one, treasure it.

Some skeletons may spawn holding arrows infused with potion effects, such as poison.

All fully hostile mobs have the capacity to pursue players indefinitely once they spawn. This means you should always stay vigilant or ensure your world is well-lit across all simulated chunks.

During a new moon, the blood moon event initiates, putting your skills to the ultimate test. During this night, zombies will populate the world and chase you relentlessly. You have the option to sleep through the night if desired or find shelter. It can become chaotic outdoors, so be poised for action or take refuge.

Slimes have a probability of spawning in larger sizes if the space allows it. Adhering to vanilla mechanics guarantees that specific slime farms remain unaffected.

Ghasts exhibit augmented fireball capabilities and carry a 5% chance of even higher firepower.

If you’re new to Chaos Core, I recommend using plenty of boats to trap mobs, which can be beneficial. Initially, play on normal or easy mode as you acclimatize. Even normal mode can feel quite challenging. Hence, if you want to inject unpredictability into your world without amplifying the difficulty, tweaking the difficulty from hard is an excellent choice.
